In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to create a nail cutter using Adobe Illustrator. I’ll mostly be drawing shapes and be using the Gradient Tool to accomplish the desired effect. If you’re familiar with Illustrator, you should be able to follow along easily. We will start by dividing the whole project into three parts. 10 to 15 steps are included in each part together with a separate layer. In the end, we will just arrange the layers and get the desired result. Now let’s start.
Part 1
1. Select the Pen Tool (p) and create a shape and fill the object with Gradient Color.
2. Select the Pen Tool (P) and draw a shape and fill it with Gradient color.
3. Create another shape on the top using the Pen Tool(p) and fill it with the Gradient color.
4. Create a different shape in the front and fill it with Linear Gradient.
5. Now draw the gradient shapes using the Pencil Tool and place them at the bottom.
6. Now create a shape using the Pen Tool (P) and fill it with linear gradient.
7. Create a shape using the Pen Tool (P) and fill it with linear gradient.
8. Now create a shape using the Pen Tool (P) and fill it with Gradient color. Make the opacity 77%.
9. Create a new line using the Pen Tool. Stoke black with opacity of 54%.
10. Now select the two black lines and go to Object > Blend > Blend Options. Choose 40 Specified Steps. Go back to Object > Blend > Make (Alt-Control-B).
11. This time, select the two white lines and reduce the opacity to 71% and go to Object > Blend > Blend Options. Choose 40 Specified Steps. Go back to Object > Blend > Make (Alt-Control-B).
12. Now we will be using the Rectangle Tool. Create a square and fill it with Linear Gradient.
13. Create a shape and fill it with Liner Gradient color.
14. Using the Pen Tool, create a shape and place it properly then fill it with Linear Gradient.
15. Now create a new shape using the Pen Tool and fill it with solid white.
16. Repeat the step but this time on the other side.
Part 2
17. Take the Pen Tool (P) from the Tool Panel and create the shape as it is shown in the picture below. Make sure that the endpoints match. You can adjust the position of endpoints by using the Direct Selection Tool (A). Fill the shape using the linear gradient.
18. Now use the Ellipse Tool (L). Draw a shape and fill it with solid color.
19. Copy the shape and place it in front (ctrl+f). Adjust a little and fill it with Gradient color.
20. Create a shape and fill it with Linear Gradient.
21. Create a shape of solid Black.
22. Create a new shape and fill with white.
23. Create a shape at the bottom and fill it with white. Reduce the opacity to 32%.
24. Create another shape and fill it with Linear Gradient and place in front.
25. Copy the same shape and place in front (ctrl+f). Scale it up but this time, fill it with Gradient color.
26. Using the Pen Tool, create a shape and fill it with Gradient.
28. Copy the previous shape and place it in front (ctrl+f). Scale it.
29. Now create a new shape and fill the shape with white.
Part 3
30. Create a new shape using Pen Tool and fill it with linear gradient.
31. Fill the new shape with solid white and reduce the opacity to 19%. Change the Blending mode to Screen mode.
32. Now create a new shape and fill it with solid white. Reduce the opacity to 19%. Change the Blending mode to Screen mode.
33. Using the Pen Tool, create a new shape and fill it with Gradient color.
34. Copy the same shape and place it in front (ctrl+f). Scale it up but fill with Gradient color.
35. Using the Pen Tool, draw a shape and fill the shape with Gradient color.
36. Using the Pen Tool, draw a shape and fill it with white.
37. Copy the previously created object and paste it here.
38. Create a circle using the Ellipse Tool and place it properly.
39. Now assemble all the parts and place them properly to get the final output.
