Success tips and strategies for AIMS ATMA Exam 2015

ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions) is a comprehensive management test conducted by AIMS for taking students in various postgraduate management programs. Scoring high in ATMA is a strong indicator of a student’s suitability for pursuing management courses. ATMA is one among the top national level management tests including CAT, MAT, GMAT, and CMAT. The exam is divided in 6 parts and questions are based on Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning. With just 20 days left for the ATMA test, you will need to speed up the preparation process. By now you must have completed your entire syllabus and in the process of revising all the three sections of the exam. Analytical reasoning and Quantitative reasoning, need huge amount of time and a lot of critical thinking and Verbal reasoning needs comprehensive thinking. Here are the essential tips for you to prepare for the management entrance test: ATMA Entrance Exam Strategies and Tips Analytical Skills The Analytical Reasoning section consists of two parts -- Analytical Reasoning Part I and Analytical Reasoning Part II. There will be 30 questions for each of the parts. The analytical questions are designed to test the candidate’s logical thinking and analytical skills. Candidates need to practice a lot for this paper, as it involves critical thinking and logical reasoning. Here are few things you should do:
  • With just 20 days left, you will need to focus more on the speed and accuracy of the answers rather than learning new concepts.
  • Best you can do is set a timeline and solve previous & mock question papers, also remember to analyze the answers and understand what you are getting right and where you are making mistakes.
  • Questions are generally tricky, so it is very important to analyze the options first before selecting the right answer.
  • Practice makes a man perfect, so practice sample question papers every single day.
Quantitative Skills Quantitative section of the ATMA entrance test is specially designed to gauge the numerical ability of a candidate. This subject along with the other two subjects are divided into two sections - Quantitative Skills I and Quantitative Skills II. Like in the Analytical paper, this paper too requires constant practice and a lot of critical thinking ability. By this time, your fundamentals and mathematical concepts must be clear and this 20 days should be devoted to upscale your skills to answer the questions quickly and accurately. Here are few tips for you:
  • Master short cut methods for solving mathematical problems
  • Set a timer and solve mock question papers. Practice at least 3 sets of sample papers every day
  • Memorize the formulas which you can easily put to use to solve questions
  • Practice is a must. Invest a minimum of 3-4 hours a day
  • Understand the pattern of questions and solve accordingly
Verbal Reasoning Verbal Reasoning section will test your command over the English language and correct usage of grammar. Divided into two parts Verbal Skills -- I and Verbal Skills -- II, the paper includes questions on antonyms & synonyms, fill in the blanks, match the list, identifying figures of speech, reading comprehension, sentence correction and sentence completion. A total of 30 questions will be asked in each of the English test which has to be answered in 60 minutes. Now this is a section that cannot be prepared in a matter of 20 days. Assuming you have done the preparatory ground work, here are few verbal reasoning tips for ATMA exam:
  • Devote 2-3 hours every day in practicing model and previous question papers. This is a must when you are heading towards the exam day
  • Practicing reading comprehension is very essential as it will give you the idea of how to comprehend and answer the questions correctly
  • When you practice either mock or previous years’ question papers always remember to set a timer and try to complete within that timeframe. Also, accuracy has to be maintained at any cost.
  • Read newspapers, magazines and try to learn the difficult and important words you came across
  • This is the best time to revise all the critical topics again
  • Practice grammar questions, sentence correction and sentence completion on a regular basis
