Question:

Largest value of min (2 + x^2, 6 -3x) when x > 0.

Solution:

One is increasing function and other is decreasing. so their intersection is given by: 2+x^2 = 6-3x.

x>0 so can't be -4. Put x = 1 in the expression to get the answer. Min(3,3)

X would vary on number line x axis.

So the two function in barcket woud have different or same value at each point. You have to choose minimum or max of these two values for the overall function.
